Effect of Cytokinins on Caulogenesis through Shoot Tip culture of Seedlings in Korean Native Azaleas

Abstract

|
The in vitro response of 5 genotype of Korean native azaleas to culture media, levels and kinds of cytokinin and their caulogenesis as shoot tip cultures of seedlings are described. In shoot tip cultures of R. japonicum and R. schlippenbachii the addition of 5.010.0 ㎎/L Zip resulted in the greatest number of shoots per explant. Multiple shoot formation from shoot tip culture of R. ohtusunr and R. yedoense var. poukhanens was obtained on the Anderson and Murashige-Skoog medium supplemented with 5.0-10.0 ㎎/L BA, respectively. However. 5.0-10.0 ㎎/L kinetin added to Murashige-skoog media stimulated shoot proliferation in R. mucronulatum. With above results, shoot multiplication from shoot tip culture of seedlings in Korean native azaleas vary among species as affected by levels and kinds of cytokinin.
